I have had the unique opportunity to work In Turkey as an ESL teacher and for a long time I enjoyed living life as I was with no special qualification because I was always able to land good jobs without one. Living abroad and teaching young kids was an incredible experience for me because it solidified my love for learning and teaching and was the wakeup call, I needed to go back to South Africa and finally work towards getting my certification in Preschool Education and successfully completing it.

I knew to be a great educator and influence on my future students that it was a vital step in my journey. While I was studying, I opened a small Online school and taught my past students from Turkey online part time, and I absolutely enjoyed it. I was able to create a fun and engaging curriculum to help make learning fun and entertaining especially when the pandemic hit the world and there was so much uncertainty.

My goal was to ensure that every time my online students joined a class, they would feel excited to see what fun interactive work I had prepared for them, and it brought me so much joy. Friday nights were our game nights, and we played a very popular game called ‘Among Us’ which was also something I felt they needed to boost their moods during the pandemic they absolutely loved it and we all had a great time.

Why education? I have an incredible interest in teaching but more especially for early years as I truly believe those are the years that shape you and ultimately prepare you for your future. With the knowledge I gained from my certification program I am certainly headed in the right direction to help empower little minds. This year will mark my 10th year of teaching 4 years in South Africa, 4 years in Turkey and 2 years online and the experience has been incredibly rewarding day after day!

I know with my skills and experience I am guaranteed to add value to any establishment. I am hard working and determined and the children I’ve met in these past years are my core motivation in what has allowed me to come this far. My goals in life are to travel, learn more and keep improving myself and my skills as much as I possibly can to be a better version of myself.
